Attempt of creating instability across Georgia and violation of all existing agreements - US senators have assessed the incident, occurred yesterday near the occupation line of the Tskhinvali breakaway region of Georgia.
Subcommittee on European Affairs of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee invited Assistant Secretary, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Philip Gordon to the session.
Philip Gordon was questioned about the position of the State Department regarding the incident.
Gordon said the US administration did not intend to carry out its restart policy with Russia on the expense of the interests of its friends. Gordon reiterated support to Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders.
