Attempt of instability and violation of all existing agreements - this is how the US senators have assessed the incident, which occurred on may 18 near the occupation line of the Tskhinvali breakaway region of Georgia. Foreign Relations Committee of the Senate discussed the issues expressing its concern regaridng the situation in Georgia`s conflict zones.
Deputy Secretary of State, Philip Gordon, was invited to the session. Philip Gordon was questioned about the position of the State Department regarding shooting of peaceful civilians outside the conflict zone.
Gordon said the US administration did not intend to carry out its restart policy with Russia on the expense of the interests of its friends. Gordon reiterated support to Georgia`s territorial integrity.
