Nino Burjanadze said in response to the recent declaration of John Baas, USA envoy. She underlined if USA envoy believes that the Public Gathering was trying to overthrow the government violently, this statement needs a strong basis in support.
"I am always cautions in connection with the statements of envoys and if Mr. Baas believes that the Public Gathering indeed tried to overthrow the government violently, this statement needs strong proofs. This is a libel against democratic opposition. And if such statement was made in fact, then the USA-Georgian relations will be hindered in the future for this statement, "- Burjanadze said.
She noted if only John Baas was not in a hurry to make this statement and would firstly meet with the members of Public Gathering he could get more correct information about our action plans.
