During the Russian-EU summit Russian Federation was strongly criticized by the European Parliament. Russia was strongly advised to fulfill the obligations taken before the international community in connection with Georgian Republic. Particularly the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Georgian occupied territories required.

one day earlier before the summit in the EP the declaration was made that it is not admissible to talk about the visa free regime with the Russian Federation unless the Russian Federation continues to distribute Russian passports over the occupied territories.

As well the pressure over the Ukraine was mentioned in the context of the disregarding by the Russian federation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia. Russia was called to return its troops to the pre-war situation.
