Georgia`s breakaway Abkhazia has completely uprooted the code for international telephone calls, imposed by Georgian Telecommunication System.
Abkhaz and international telephone codes were recently changed from Georgian to Russian prefixes, however, up to 2010 both Georgian and Russian codes could be used for making international codes.
Now Russia has officially allocated special codes 840 and 940 to Abkhazia.
Georgian authorities have assessed the fact as an open aggression by Russia towards Georgia and call for international response to the illegal act.
