On June 28th, 2011, Georgia`s Main Prosecutor`s Office has instituted legal proceedings against the fugitive former minister of defense Irakli Okruashvili, who currently resides in France as a political refugee. Okruashvili has been charged with the first part of the article N223, which implies formation and commanding of illegal armed groups.
Within the required deadline, the Prosecutor`s Office of Georgia will apply to the court to rule on the case.
Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia released the unveiled plans of Okruashvili, according to which he had intended to arrive in Georgia via occupied Abkhazia together with his armed groups and begin anti-governmental activities, on June 23, 2011. MIA also released the video testimony of Okruashvili`s allies, who were organizing formation of armed groups and purchase of weaponry.
