Russian Edition "News Week" insisted that in his interview with "News Week" Gigi Ugulava, Tbilisi Mayor indeed talked about the possible refusal of Georgia from NATO membership, in case if Russia withdraw its army from S.O. and Abkhazia.
The author of interview with Gigi Ugulava, - Elizaveta Mayetnaya said to radio program "Caucasian Echo": "Everything what Tbilisi Mayor said in his interview, was his own position. He said this indeed," - Mayetnaya said.
According to the declaration of the interviewer of the Russian edition of "News Week", the interview with Gigi Ugulava was taken in presence of his press secretary and as well there exist a tape recording of the interview.
After the publication of the interview Tbilisi Mayor accused the Russian edition of "New Week" in inaccuracy in his interview. He said that his words were improperly interpreted. He said that he did not say that Georgia may refuse membership to NATO in turn of Russia's withdrawal of Army from S.O. and Abkhazia.
