Irakli Sesiashvili, head of the association "Freedom and Justice" said that the situation in connection with the religious minorities may case in our country the nationalistic disposition.
"Our government and Parliament are passing Bills without considering interests of the public. His Holiness asked them to hold a public discussion on this matter. He was totally ignored by the Parliament. This step was a confronting step of a government against the Church. The government ignored the position of a Church and made a precedent of such ignorance, which denotes that the government does not respect the Church. Such situation may case the nationalistic disposition in our country.
The government only promotes such nationalistic outbursts. It tries to shift the attention to the nationalistic approach and xenophobia, and in turn to make oneself at this background to look as a liberal force. It tries to destroy the nationalistic stereotypes in our society. This is a provocation, which is promoted by government. The government tries to make this theme a subject of discussion. To use the possible nationalistic outbursts for discrediting of Church and own opponents, " - Sesiashvili said to GHN.
In this case the criticize against the Armenian position is based not on the unacceptability of Armenian position in Georgian politics, but that Georgia defends own interests.
"The Armenian Church and a government acts in accordance with the own interest and this is no surprise. This is normal. The problem is that our government acts contrary to the interests of out state. Our society unsatisfied with the intergovernmental policy of our government. Our government does not follow the democratic principles. It takes decisions ignoring the opinion of a public and with out public discussions. The government makes provoking steps to use afterwards the situation in own favor and to say that in our country are forces which are disposed nationalistically and are spreading xenophobia, " - Sesiashvili said.
He underlined that the government acts not transparently .as we do not know what agreement was concluded between Armenian and Georgian Church.
"the passing of this Bill is a first part of the agreement, but we do not know what will be the second third and other parts of the agreement, as the government does not make public the agreement details, " - Sesiashvilis said.
