The Georgian government never makes a step which will be contrary to the Georgian Orthodox Church. This is an approach of a President and the administration announced today over press spokes women Manana Manjgaladze.
"We are valuing greatly this strong relationship with our traditional Church. These relations are strengthened not only with the constitutional agreement but as well with especial role of the Georgian Orthodox Church in our country. It is natural that the Georgian state never makes a step in contradiction to the Georgian Orthodox Church, "- Manana Manjgaladze said.
She underlined the President believes that the principle of a freedom of confession is very important. Namely because of this principle the decision was taken by Georgian Parliament in connection with the status of religious organizations in Georgia.
"The amendments o the Civil Code will give to our citizens who are a representative of different religious confessions to legally register its religious organizations. Should be noted that this law has nothing in common with the property and disputable questions regulation, "- Manjgalanadze said.
This question was commented as well by Prime Minister. He said he is ready to establish a commission jointly with the Georgian Orthodox Church which will cooperate with these questions with the Georgian Orthodox Church.
The President's Administration considers it to be very important that the Bureau sitting will once again make interpretations in connection with the Bill on status of religious organizations in Georgia.
