Gigi Ugulava, the City Mayor said that the passing of the legislation about the religious organizations status in Georgia will not restrict the rights of our Orthodox Church. He said in conversation with journalists in the Trinity Cathedral that he welcomes the decision of a Holy Synod.
"In our country the rights of all confessions representatives should be defended. The legislation passed, will not restrict in some way rights of Georgian Orthodox Church, it will be regulated under the Concordat, "- Ugulava said.
For information, the Holy Synod hold a sitting yesterday. The expressed the hope that as a result of changes in the Constitution, other religious organizations will not be granted the same rights as the Georgian Orthodox Church has.
