The Court hearing for photo reporters case alleged in the espionage for Russian Federation will be open for public hearing and any interested person will be able to attend the court hearing, the Procurator's Office General informed the GHN.
"The Procurator's Office General assures that according to the criminal process legislation the transparency of the case involving Georgian photo reporters alleged in espionage will be provided. Particularly any interested person can attend the court hearing. Only the small part of the evidences containing the sensitive information will be discussed at the closed hearing, "- Procurator's Office General informed.
For information, MIA detained 4 photo reporters with allegation in espionage against Georgian state. Among them private photo reporter of Georgian President. They are: Gia Abdaladze (Foreign Minsitry's photographer), Shakh Aivazov (Associated Press photo reporter), Zurab Kurtsikidze (photographer of Press Photo Europe), private photographer of Georgian President Irakli Gedenidze and his wife Natia Gedenidze. Natia Gedenidze is freed on bail.
According to MIA detained persons are alleged under the GCC Art 314.
This crime stipulates keeping of secret materials concerning Georgian government, for the purpose of its passing to the foreign countries organizations or representations. And the conduction of the surveillance against interests of Georgian state. Such crime is punishable for the 8-12years of imprisonment.
The case is considered under the security classification. Public demands the lifting of the secrecy from the case and to release detained persons on bail.
