Ethnic Georgians who are returning to Abkhazia are hostages of the political conflict; the Human Rights Watch published today the report. About 47 000 IDPs returned to Gali region, most difficult region in terms of human rights violations. They are facing the civil and political rights violations.
The 71 pages report describes the situation of refugees in Gali region. The document notifies about benevolent interference of Abkhazian government into the civil and political rights of IDPs.
"Nevertheless the Abkhazian state isn't recognized as an independent state, this country is obliged to respect internationally recognized human rights and freedoms, "- the report reads.
They noted that the Abkhazian government is obliged to provide with the unhindered movement across the border and to defend the human rights of all people living in Abkhazia among them Georgians.
The report is based on the 100 people's interviews. The report as well contains the interviews of the public officials in Abkhazia and international organizations representatives.
