Sozar Subari, head of the Georgian Party talked today about his visit in Strasbourg and Brussels on July 11-14. He introduced the EU politicians, diplomats and civil society with the events in Georgia.
In Strasbourg he meet with Thomas Hammerberg, CoE HR Commissioner. Subari will talk about the political persecution of Georgian government against members and supporters of Georgian party and torture and inhuman treatment towards illegally detained persons.
Subary talked with Hamerberg as well about the unproportional force used during the protest action dissolution on May 26. He tell that constitutional rights of citizens were breached in terms of torture of detained persons and inhuman treatment.
Sozar Subary in Brussels he meet with EP delegation and European Commission representatives. Subari met as well with Tais Berman, EP HR Commission vice-president. He conducted meetings with Amnesty International and FIDH representatives. Subari as well meet with President of International Federation of Journalists.
Subari informed them about the events in Georgia for hat last two month. About the facts of political persecution of Georgian party members. He talked as well about the photo reporters detained with charges of espionage and the legislation passed for the status of religious minorities. "Talked about the pressure over Burjanadze's supporters at the same time, " - Subari said.
Subari believes that against this repressive regime the measures are to be taken. He said under the EP the working group is to be established to monitor the prisoners of conscience existence in Georgia.
Subari said Tais Berman is well aware about the event in Georgia, as he is a former journalist and many times interviews Zviad Gamsahurdia.
