Arnold Schwarzenegger and his estranged wife, Maria Shriver, announced Friday that a son who suffered severe injuries in a beach accident was expected to make a full recovery.
Christopher, 13, was surfing or boogie-boarding Sunday in Malibu, Calif., when a big wave crashed into him. He was hospitalized with a collapsed lung and broken bones.
"A few days ago our son Christopher suffered an accident at the beach," Arnold and Maria tell TMZ in a joint statement.
"While it has been a very scary week, Christopher is surrounded by his family and friends. He is a brave boy and is expected to make a full recovery."
The couple also thank "the paramedics and lifeguards who responded so swiftly" after the accident.
