The decisive point in our relations with President Saakahsvili was August 7 of 2008, when I call him and asked, "I will down to my knees, only not to bomb Tskhinvali!" Nino Burjanadze, leader of Democratic Movement said in her informal meeting with journalists.
She said she as well was able to help the government to stop the war started. But Saakashvili refused to use his contacts in Russian Federation.
"No personal confrontation does exist between us. I have nothing against his personality. No election was the decisive point in our relations. I even up to today keep hiss messages when he asked me to refuse the resignation form the post of Parliamentary Chairwomen, "- Burjanadze said.
She as well talked about her visit in Moscow. She said she knew that the meeting with Putin will affect badly her political rating. Nevertheless she said it would be wrong if she will not arrive to Moscow. She considers that she was wrong when decided not to arrive to Moscow anymore. She noted the highest task of a politician is to turn an enemy into friend, but not contrary. We should restore relations with Russian Federation. Nevertheless she said that the restoration of relations with Russian Federation does not mean the spoiling of relaitons with USA.
