Today on July 26, 10 years passed since the death of Giorgi Sanaia, journalist of the TV Company Rustavi 2.
In 2001 of July 26 Giorgi Sanaia was found dead in his own apartments in Tbilisi. He was a leading of popular TV show, his death caused political protest action in the country.
The investigation of the death case was ending during two years. In 2003 of July 9 the Court founds guilty in this case the former MIA employee Grigol Khurtsilava, 32. He was sentenced for 13 years o imprisonment. Officially the murder was committed on the private basis.
Nevertheless wife of the died person Khatuna Sanaia was unsatisfied with the verdict and appeallealed to higher instances. The Asllelated Court declied the application of his wife, who demanded the reinvestigation of the case for the many procedure infringements during the trial.
Giorgi Sanaia at 17 participated in Abkhazian war as a correspondent. In the TV Company Rustavi 2 he was a leading of the political talk show "The night Currier".
