The further expansion of NATO is not a danger for Russia. Hillary Clinton, USA State Secretary said in her interview with "Voice of America".
"The Central And Eastern European countries, which are taking the decision to be affiliated with NATO, are taking the decision at the same time to join those nations who work under the strengthening of a common safety, " - Clinton said.
She said that NATO is interested in closer relations with Russian Federation, and has no intentions to make any aggressive steps against the peaceful neighbors.
Clinton believes that, the expanding of the Alliance will help Russia in that respect, that its Western neighbors will not be of any danger any more.
"It is up to the Russia what interpretation it gives to the expansion of NATO, however I wish that Russian and NATO developed the close relations, which will be of great value for both sides, " - Hillary Clinton said.
In response to the question about the possible new President in Ukraine which will be against the NATO membership of Ukraine to NATO, she said that, NATO membership is not a forceful or obligatory, and if the Ukrainian people in changing its government will choose not to join NATO, this will be its decision.
