Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, the Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi and Metropolitan bishop of Abkhazia and Pitsunda, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, calls the ecclesiastical persons of Abkhazia and South Ossetia to meet and to discuss the problem which currently faces the spiritual life of the region. The declaration about this was made by Georgian Patriarch in his interview with Ukraine National channels.
"I call the Abkhazian and South Ossetia spiritual persons to meet and to discuss the problem, "- Patriarch said. He believes that it is a "big mistake" that the population of Abkhazia and South Ossetia are not willing to live under the Georgian Church blessing. This is dangerous first of all for Abkhazians themselves who are not willing to be under the canonical and legitimate Georgian Church. He said he hopes they will understand its mistake and inevitably will return to the Georgian Church.
He said those whoa are breaching the canonic rules and who are striving for the disagreements in Church could not survive even over being martyrs for such sin. For this, Patriarch said the talks should be held.
