"The resolution made one more step forward and USA proved once again that the territorial integrity of Georgia has a principal importance for USA, "- Georgian envoy in USA Temur Iakobashvili said commenting the USA Congress resolution.
"This is one more step forward in term of Georgia-USA strategic partnership. USA Senate passed this document which was earlier discussed in the White House, this proves that the territorial integrity of Georgia is a principal question for USA, "- Iakobashvili said.
For information, USA Senate passed one more supporting resolution for Georgian statehood.
Particularly the document reads that Senate upholds the policy of USA for the sovereignty of Georgia, territorial integrity and borders safety. USA admits that Abkhazia and South Ossetia are territories occupied by Russian Federation.
The USA Senate calls Russian Federation to make steps to respect all provisions of the cease-fire agreement of 2008 signed between Georgia and Russia. Among the provision of the agreement is the return of the Russian Army to its pre war position and to allow the international humanitarian aid to the territories damaged as a result of military interference.
As well under the resolution Russia is called to allow IDPs from both conflict regions to return to own homes and to admit the international observation missions on these territories.
