Today on August 1 the Tbilisi TV-Radio Center will be sold over auction. The auction will be held in fact, for the purpose to pass it to the Ltd "Alpha Com" with 100% shares for 4 years. The Economic and Sustainable Development Ministry informs that the starting price for its sale is GEL100 000.
The TV-Radio Center was renamed to the Ltd. "Alpha Com" several months ago. It encompassed 35 TV channels and 34 radio channels. Against the privatization o this object are the opposition, journalists and part of the public. They believe this will make obstacles to the media free activity and will be used as a pressure over it. The demand to suspend the privatization and to make public all details of the sale. Today the protest action will be held at the Economic Ministry for this purpose.
