The Georgian Public Defender applied to the Parliament with a legislative initiative. The GN was informed form the Public Defender's Office that Giorgi Tighushi initiated the amendments to the GCC in such a way to not to make it possible for interpretation of he GCC Article 314 in such a way as will be contrary to the Georgian Constitution.
"The Defender's Office studies the GCC Art 314 consistency with the Georgian Construction and human rights international standards. After the study of the question the Defender considers that the Art 314 part one is inconsistent with the previsions of the Georgian Constitution," - the statement reads. He defined that wording of the Article "the passing of the information to other country's intelligence or organization" should be stated more clearly, what kind of information should not be passed, what it prohibited according to the law.
"It is not right in the democratic society to punish a person for the "passing of other information" which unlike the sensitive materials does not contain the information about the defense economics, foreign relations." - statement of Public Defender reads. .
