Ukraine does not recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. This declaration was made by Ukraine Foreign Minister Peter Poroshenko in conversation with "Komersant".
" I am not for the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia because this is contrary to the basic international law principles, ‘ - Ukrainian Foreign Minister said.
"Position is absolutely clear and evident. Ukraine did not recognize the independence of Cosovo as well. We believe that there is no basis for such recognition. The argumentation is the same as for the non recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, " - Poroshenko said.
It is to be noted that Viktor Yanukovich, Ukraine's opposition parties leader called the Ukraine to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia following the Russia's example. Yulia Timoshenko, Prime Minister abstained from the evaluation of the RUssian-Georgian relations.
