Coca-Cola will produce the beer Tumult firstly in France. This is an alcohol beverage which is prepared over natural fermentation. The creators think this drink will be very popular among young people. In 0.25 ml bottle it will cost EUR 3.5.
As well beverage giant Coca-Cola Amatil will push back into the beer market if it is forced to give up its existing beer business under SABMiller's proposed deal to swallow Foster's Group.
Coca-Cola Amatil managing director Terry Davis said that if the takeover went ahead, the group intended ultimately to re-enter the beer market.
Mr Davis made the comments yesterday while revealing that the soft-drink maker's profit had tumbled 28 per cent in the six months to July in difficult trading conditions.
Coca-Cola Amatil posted a net profit of $153.6 million, including $80.5 million in writedowns on the value of assets and inventory in the SPC Ardmona fruit and vegetable processing business.
The group is restructuring the struggling SPC Ardmona business in Victoria, cutting 150 jobs.
Mr Davis described the underlying first half-result as "solid" amid the toughest operating environment that he had seen for many years.
The soft-drink maker has a brewing joint venture with SABMiller, called Pacific Beverages, which competes with Foster's. Pacific Beverages makes Bluetongue and distributes products such as Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Grolsch and Pilsner here and in New Zealand.
SABMiller did not wish to make a joint bid for Foster's with CCA, which had no interest in acquiring a stake in the Australian brewer.
