Gia Nodia political scientist said, Nikoloz Rurua, Culture Minster should take the decision about Robert Sturua's dismissal from his post of Art Director in the Rustaveli Dramatic Theatre much earlier.
"It is a shameful that Culture Minister was waiting for one and half of month before taking a decision for the dismissal of Sturua. For this no much time was necessary, as the nature of Sturua's declarations were clear from the beginning, "- Political scientist wrote in his article for the European bureau of the RFE RL
He said this dismissal establishes a new standard of relations between public figures making xenophobic declarations and the government officials. This happens in case of Sturua.
"the case is not in Robert Sturua's the oppositional view points, the main is that relations changed between the acting government and those people who were a layer of culture and science representatives during the soviet period - the "intelligencia". Those people were loosing its status of leaders in the society and now the western values identified modern government demands another standards, were it is shameful to distinguish people on the ethnical ground. Nevertheless the ethnic routs for the post soviet "intelligencia are very important... for such leaders the deficit of Saakashvili's patriotism is explained by the fact of his Armenian originality, " - Nodia said.
