On August 27, 20 years passed since the independence of Baltic States. In 1991 on August 27 the Council of Europe officially recognized the independence of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
In 1918-40 y Estonia Latvia and Lithuania were independent states. They were forcefully included to the USSR. In 1991 they returned again to its independent existence.
On August 27, 20 years passed since the independence of Moldova republic as well. Moldova declared its independence on August 27 of 1991. This was followed by secessionist movements in different regions of the country. The Dniester declared its independence in the Moldova republic. The status of this unit is not decided up to today. In 1994 Moldova Parliament passed a law on the Autonomous territory of a disputable land
