The Chief Procurator's Office disseminates the information about the case of detention a car driver of the Burjanadze-Bitsadze's family.
The statement reads that the investigation is over on the case concerning the accident which happens on May 26 on Rustaveli avenue, the case against alleged Shaqria Zurashvili and Ivane Chighvinadze who are charged with a crime against the life of people.
Office has published a special statement regarding the investigation of the cases built up on the incidents that occurred on Rustaveli Avenue on May 26, 2011. The statement describes in detail the cases built up against the defendants - Shakria Zurashvili and Ivane Chighvinadze. It says the investigation is over against the two persons charged with killing and injuring people on Rustaveli Avenue on May 26, 2011.
`On August 17, Tbilisi city court has ruled on the case of Shakria Zurabashvili and sent him to prison for 12 years. As for Ivane Chighvinadze, who was charged with resisting to law enforcers, violence, destruction of a thing, was sent to prison for six years. Due to his cooperation with the investigation regarding the less grave crime committed by him on that night, which is second episode in the case, the prosecution signed plea bargain with the defendant has been finally sent to prison for four years and ruled to 5 year conditional sentence.
Five other defendants cooperated with the investigation, admitted to the crime, therefore, they have faced the following rulings:
Amiran Merebashvili - four year sentence five year conditional sentence; Aleksandre Bibiluri - 8 years in prison and 5 years conditional sentence; Nikoloz Zautashvili - 8 years in prison and 5 years conditional sentence; Koba Kobauri - four years in prison and five years conditional sentence; Ilia Zivzivadze - 2 years in prison and five years conditional sentence.
