Davit Darchiashvili one of the majority leaders said in Georgia the work is pending under the recognition of the minority languages as regional languages.
"We have two documents in connection with national minorities. One of them is "Conventional on National Minorities", the ratification of which happens in 1998 before passing in CoE. Another is "Regional languages Charter" which is not yet ratified. Accordingly this stage it is not on agenda. Nevertheless the discussion is pending on this matter, "- Darchiashvili said commenting the materials published by WikiLeaks.
MP said despite the work under the question, there was not a demand from any organization to pass a document concerning the minority issues immediately.
"The discussion under the minority issues was pending in the foreign relations Committee several months ago. I took part in it as well. I have to say the question is under the study, this process will continue. At the end of this month some conclusions will be made. Nevertheless the question is complicated; it demands many discussions and work. We have to determine what s the regional language. What regions it should serve. What definition we should make..." - MP said.
