Anrzej Tyszkiewic, the newly appointed Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia, will arrive on July 27. The EUMM informed, Tyszkiewicz took up his duties on July 18.
Tyszkiewicz will attend a meeting regarding establishing an infrastructure incident prevention. The meeting is to be held in the Dvani village on the border with the Tskhinvali region on July 28.
Before arriving in Georgia he will hold several introductory meetings and briefings in Brussels, the EUMM reported. Former head of the EUMM Hansjorg Haber completed his mission in Georgia in late March.
The EUMM mandate has been set until Sept. 14 and its extension is included in the competence of the Council of the European Union.
Nino Kalandadze, Deputy Foreign Minsiter said Foreign Ministry welcoms that the EUMM continues mission in Georgia. She underlined that for Georgia it is very important to keep this mission in the country, despite the fact that EUMM has no possibility to perform duties in full, as it is deprived for the right to supervise over the occupied territories.
