Sulkhan Ghlonti, leader of the young Free Democrats said the Ivanishvili-Alasania political tandem is very strong and serious which can resist to the violent ruling and will fight to the end. He said they are able to change the political team which rules over the country violently.
The GHN talked with Sulkhan Ghlonti about the Ivanishvili's ‘dreams' in politics.
- What do you think will change in politics as the tandem Ivanishvili-Alasania will appear on the arena, and how far the tandem is popular among the youth.
- This is indeed a new stage in our political life. The stage which rose hopes that this political team can be replaced. These leaders are very effective and influential; they can fight to the end. This theme is very popular among Georgian youth; in the high schools all are discussing this event. This is a notion that youth are ready to be involved in the process.
- Were the youth very passive up to today? They were not taking part in the political processes.
- The National Movement rules with its propaganda. It is very hard to determine the truth. This is violence over the citizen's thinking. People are not allowed to get information and to analyze independently. In addition to this the total control over the self governance in Universities nd high schools takes place. In fact no processes are without the governmental control. They constantly were declaring the opposition is perspectiveless and the contacts with opposition are risky. They were arresting the youth opposition leaders and were awarding bountifully all those who were loyal towards the governmental team. This makes the youth generation to loose the interest to the political processes. But the fact is that the ‘order' in a state which was based on violence is very weak. Authoritarian power was spreading a fear during the years. But the times comes sooner or later when people are seeing clearly the situation and the system which was constructed during many years will destroy in a day. This will happens as well in our country.
- You did mention that government created idealess elite, what do you mean?
- The government chose a short way for its aims. They tired up all people who were thinking differently. Simply they ‘abolished' the difference. After this they started to develop new elite. They showed to us what kind of Georgia they wish - contentless, idealess and moral less and what is worse - coward. Unlike the European elites, whose main trait is a defense of the values, the modern Georgian elite is extremely coward, idealess and very loyal to the government.
