The gambling for the Russia's entry into World Trade Organization nears to the end and will be accomplished till the end of the year, Mamuka Areshidze, Georgian political scientist said, GHN reports.
"I am not aware if Russian Federation would agree to the suggestion. Anyhow, the softening of Georgia's position was mainly presupposed by the EU's pressure. Alongside with the Georgian-Russian dispute over the WTO, EU as well has own process of dispute regulations between EU and RF. The EU was not willing in fact to accept Russia without its preconditions, but contrary at the public discussions EU tried to show that EU wishes Russia's affiliation without those preconditions. In fact several factors were disputable between EU and RF, among them the regime of a cargo transportation and passenger's transportation. They as well could not agree about the tariffs in this respect. Quite contrary Georgia and Russia were fighting openly, when the EU was trying to regulate own disputable questions hideously. After its negotiations ended, the accent was shifted to Georgian EU question, "- expert said.
At the same time Areshidze said that the Russia's WTO entry is some kind of a game. We are not aware what type of agreement was concluded, what the Georgian side compromised and how over such machinery the cargo transportation would be possible.
He noted that the most part of Russian politicians and economic scientists are against the WTO membership. However, USA is eager to make Russia a member of this organization.
