Giorgi Tsagareishvili, chair of the Fraction Unity for Fairness said the case with Lsha Darbaidze, former honorary consul in USA is linked with political revenge.
In conversation with journalists Giorgi Tsagareishvili said that Darbaidze was performing his duties of a honorary council from October 4 to October 21, not being already a Georgian citizen.
"The case happens under the President's order to stripe the citizenship from Darbaidze on October 4. Generally in such cases the older date is indicated and those people's are ‘pushed' there who are undesirable to return to Georgia. The suspension of the citizenship in case of Darbaidze was agreed with Mikheil Saakshvili, "- Tsagareishvili said.
As Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nino Kalandadze stated during a regularly scheduled briefing, Darbaidze didn't follow terms of the agreement and didn't meet the demands of the honorary consul.
Kalandadze explains that the Honorary Consul must act in accordance with the interests of Georgia.
"Ministry of Foreign Affairs monitors diplomats and honorary consuls, how properly they follow their obligations and terms of the agreement. In this case, the decision was made after a discussion. Other consuls will share the same fate if they don't follow the terms", Nino Kalandadze said
