Members of Georgian delegation to Geneva held consultation with the President Saakashvili. He once more underlined the importance of the content of the document and the suggestions of Georgian party.
The Georgian side has already agreed with Switzerland on the final version of the document, while Moscow said it needs time to analyze the offer.
"During the last 17-18 years, since 1992, we have problems with supervising the cargo crossing the borders of Georgia and traveling inside Georgia. We always wanted to control the cargo either by ourselves or by means of international monitoring. The World Trade Organization regulates this was our proposal to Russia. After the open aggression, of course it became too difficult, although in result of your joint efforts and a very taught process of talks, we have returned to this position again. International monitors should supervise the cargo, which travels towards Georgia and inside Georgia", Mikheil Saakashvili said at the meeting and thanked the Georgian delegation members as well as Sweden, as a mediator.
"I'd like to express my hope that we'll be able to bring all these to a logical end within the next days, as in this case we have a very little time. Few days have left until the final decision is adopted.
"I'd like to thank our Swedish partners for the consecutive work especially at the latest stage. Now it's Russia's turn to make a decision in the wake of this document.
"I think all along the talks we were following our national interests and principles of the international law. This is our final purpose", the president said.
The talks on technical issues of Russia's possible WTO accession are supposed to start in Switzerland within the next few days on November 9-10. In case if Russia accepts the Swiss mediation and agree on allowing international monitoring across Georgia's internationally recognized borders the question of Russia's accession will be discussed at the ministerial on December 15.
