The PACE co-chairs in monitoring Michael Jensen and Castriot Islam said that the so-called Presidential elections are not valid. They declared no grounds were to conduct such elections. The information is disseminated over PACE official statement.
The PACE does not recognize the constitutional and legal framework within which election was held and reiterates its support for Georgian sovereignty and territorial integrity recognized by international law.
They underlined that the unilateral declaration of independence under the international law is unlawful, so no basis for conduction of elections was. To the point they noted that over 20000 Georgian refugees were not able to take part in such elections.
