The memoirs of ex-State Secretary Condoleezza Rais are proving that the reason for starting war in August 2008 was an Order of President Saakashvili to bomb Tskhinvali, Nino Burjanadze said, GHN reports.
"Today I wish to talk about the memories of Rais, partially they touch August war in 2008. She proved once again, what I had had said many times before, what becomes a reason for which Saakashvili and his allies hate me and said I am a traitor. I would like to remind that when I was a Parliamentary Chair I met with Rais. She said that President Saakashvili should in no event to get provoked, which could possibly may come from Ossetia or Russian side. She as well said we cannot allow a direct military confrontation with Russian Federation, as despite the strategic relations with Georgia, USA would not involve into the war with RF. She underlined that we will be left alone and will loose the war. I repeated these words some one and a half of year again and I cited them during our meeting with Saakshvili after meeting with Rais. I reminded these words him on August 3 of 2008, when I met with him for the last time before the war and I warned him that the joining to and moreover, the starting of a war would be catastrophic for our country, "- Burjanadze said.
She noted one more detail in her memories. Rais said that rebels are firing in direction of Georgian villages, and Saakashvili in response ordered to fire them over the heavy military technique. The main is here that Rais said they were rebels, but not Russian militaries, as Saakashvili proves it.
"This proves again the Tagliavini conclusion on August war and other EU experts that the war could be avoided."
