For this moment the EU membership  irrelevant, Giorgi Baramidze, vice Prime Minister said this in his interview with EurActive. He said this is not possible for the nearest 3-5 years. At the same time he underlined as more Georgia will be integrated in EU, as more Russia will be restrained in its attempt of illegal occupation. When we will became a NATO member Russia will loose a stimulus for the occupation. "They will understand that such 19-th century methods against Georgia would be impossible. We have common interests with Russian Federation and we are ready to respect these interests, but they cannot get our respect over tanks and occupation. After the Baltic states entered NATO, Russia became more restricted against them, the same is excepted in our case, "- Baramidze said.

He underlined that now Georgia is nearer to NATO membership than 3 years ago.

"We have annual national programs for reforming of our institutions renovation and modernization to lift them up to the NATO standards. We as well established Georgia-NATO Commission for political consultations on all difficult questions and we are using these institutions effectively. We have annual progress we are demonstrating our activity, so in 2-3 years period we will reach all necessary standards for NATO membership, "- Baramidze said.
