The Georgian Foreign Ministry positively estimates the passed 2011 year in terms of international relations. Sergi Kapanadze, Deputy Foreign Minister said at the traditional meeting in MFA. Georgia has many achievements in three years of the August war.
"The most important out of them is a closer rations with EU; the associative agreements with EU. At the same time we started the deep and allencompassing negotiations for the free trade relations. The next year serious negotiations for the visa regimes with Eu will be started. This is a very important achievement we reached in 2011. We deepened relations with a range of countries in the world. Many embassies were opened; Georgia established diplomatic relations with 22 countries. We need deepening of relations with countries around the world and establishing relations with them."
Kapanadze said one of the important events was an agreement reached with Russian Federation for WTO entry. "The bilateral agreement with Russian Federation is a step forward for the Georgian diplomacy, "- Kapanadze said.
He underlined that the visit of NATO Secretary General to Georgia was very important. Kapanadze said this will promote the closer relations with NATO. Kapanadze stressed the importance of the UN resolution concerning the return of refugees.
‘We will face many challenges next year. They are well described in the National Security Concept which was passed several days ago by Parliament, "- Kapanadze concluded.
