The project of a new resort city, the construction of which begins this year in Samegrelo Region, Georgia, has scared Russians. Political analysts and media believes that Russia`s investments made in the development of Olympic Villages in the seaside resort of Sochi, will be just a waste of funds and time, as Lazika will be the project which will attract tourists in the region.
The author of an analytical article published on Russianrealty.ru website, Albert Akopyan says he sees no chances of the development of Sochi; the investments will not be profitable as the business sector has already confirmed this.
According to experts, teh hotels in Sochi will lack visitors after the Winter Olympics 2014, as the development of the seaside resort needs not only hotels, but development of tourism, shopping tours, food and wine tours, which do not work in Sochi currently.
Akopyan says Lazika will be the second success of Georgian tourism after Mestia, adding the new airport in Zugdidi grew the prospects of the resort development.
The journalist emphasizes the speed, sort and the low prices of construction business, which finally is reflected on the price of product. Akopyan says the president of the neighbor country will organize to bring international festivals to the new city of Lazika from Europe and the Black Sea states, which diminishes the prospect of Sochi development as a resort.
