The U.S. Embassy together with eight American Corners and Pioneer Film Studio is sponsoring a unique video contest in honor of the 20th anniversary of U.S.-Georgia diplomatic relations. The contest is open for Georgian youth ages 12-18 who will make a 3 to 5 minute video on the theme of friendship. Best videos will be featured at a special showing in Tbilisi and the Embassy will award prizes to winning teams!
It is easy and fun to get started. Young Georgians who want to learn how to make and edit movies should use video equipment and software provided by American Corners in the following cities: Akhaltsikhe, Batumi, Gori, Khashuri, Rustavi, Telavi, Tbilisi and Zugdidi. Grigol Chigogidze, director of Tbilisi's Pioneer Film Studio, will mentor teams at the American Corners and help participants to craft creative films.
The U.S. Embassy will invite teams from each American Corner to Tbilisi in May to an American Corner video fair to show their films; winning teams will receive prizes ranging from iPads, to digital cameras and iPods. Please visit http://georgia.usembassy.gov/american-corners-2/ac_video.html to get contact information for American Corners in your city and to see the contest rules. Or go visit your local American Corner to learn how to organize or join a movie production team. Be a part of the 2012 celebration of 20 years of friendship and diplomatic relations between Georgia and the United States!
