The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe at its 1130th meeting held on 11 January 2012, adopted the Electoral Assistance Programme for the elections to be held in Georgia in 2012-2014. The Ministry of Foerign affairs of Georgia has welcomed the adoption by the Committee of Ministers of the assistance programme, which was prepared by the Secretariat of the Council of Europe in close co-ordination with the main representatives of the international community and relevant national actors, in particular the Central Electoral Commission.
The Georgian authorities attach great importance to the forthcoming elections in Georgia and regard the co-operation with the Council of Europe's relevant bodies as having significant added value for the efforts to organise the forthcoming elections in line with European standards.
