Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates the Holy Epiphany on January 19, one of the greatest Christian holidays. Today Christians commemorate the baptizing of Jesus in the Jordan River, his manifestation to the world as the Son of God.
In addition, today is the day of 21-st nationwide baptizing of the third children of the families, which will be baptized by the Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II. The tradition of mass baptizing liturgy was initiated by His Holiness a few years ago and the number of the children baptized by Patriarch is 10,300. Today Patriarch will baptize 560 infants.
A holy service will be conducted today at the Holy Trinity Cathedral today. After the service, a ceremony of water consecration will be held. The worshippers take this water home and take it during illness and when they have problems.
