The representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia, National Agency of Historic Monuments, Partriarch`s Administration and Georgian lawmakers are holding a meeting dedicated to finding the ways for saving Saint George`s Ilori Church located in Abkhazia from destruction.
The meeting was appointed after the Rustavi2 released exclusive video of the church - the video showed that the architecture of the monument is completely changed - the church has metal-plastic windows, air conditioning system installed and the dome changed.
The participants of the meeting will adopt a special statement, which will be afterwards sent to various international organizations and to UNESCO in the first place to urge them halt Russia`s aggressive expansion, which aims at erasing Georgian traces in the occupied Abkhazia.
`This is an occupied territory where the ethnic cleansing has occurred and now they are trying to erase Georgian traces there. We have a possibility to move the problem for discussion on international level and call on them to stop Russia`s barbarian and aggressive activities on Georgian soil,` Shota Malashkhia said.
