The coffin of the Georgian sailor Beka Urushadze, who died in the explosion on the Edirne tanker in the Adriatic Sea, has been transferred from turkey to Georgia this morning. The relatives were waiting for the coffin in the Tbilisi international airport, from where the sailor`s body was taken to his home in Batumi.
The shipwreck on a Turkish tanker occurred on January 16 near the Albanian port of Duress. Another Georgian sailor Malkhaz Lazishvili was also killed in the catastrophe, however, the rescuers failed to find his body. The rescue operation is over as the rescuers lost the hope to find the body.
The other survivors of the tragedy arrived home a few days ago. The expenses tied with the transfer of the body were covered by the Turkish company to which the tanker belonged.
