Australian media reports say Fiji may become the sixth state which has recognized independence of Georgia`s occupied regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrives in the country today to hold negotiations with local authorities regarding the issue. However, deputy minister Aleksandr Lukashevich ignored the question about the recognition of Georgian regions at the last press conference. He said any similar decision should be taken independently by a sovereign state and therefore, he can not comment it.
Fiji is currently fighting a disaster; however, Russian minister did not postpone the visit despite the destructive flood.
