Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili hailed the victory of Georgian ice-skater Elene Gedevanishvili on her best results of the career gained at the European Championship held in Sheffield, England, on Sunday. Elene grabbed her second bronze medal at the event with 165.93 4 scores.
President congratulated the young sportsman on her victory by telephone.
Elene won her first bronze in 2009-2010 too, but this time she showed her best results during her career breaking her own record.
Elene Gedevanishvili went to the Dinamo ice-skating school in Tbilisi and continued her classes in Moscow under the leading coaches, however, during the mass deportation of Georgians from Russia in 2006, she was forced to leave Russia together with her family. After this incident, Georgian president assisted her to travel to Canada, where she resumed her classes with one of the best coaches; the trainings turned out successful and Georgian sportsman is now among the Europe`s three best ice-skaters of the year.
Elene Gedevanishvili opened two new ice-skating stadiums in Tbilisi last year and even performed two demonstrative shows.
