President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili held working meeting at the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate. The main issue of discussion at the meeting was the enhancement of relation with Georgia, including the economic and security spheres, the possibility to reach agreement about the free trade relation with Georgia; in addition, the sides spoke about Russia-Georgia relations, situation on Georgia`s occupied territories and the regional security issues.
The Senators reiterated support to Georgia`s territorial integrity and sovereignty and welcomed Georgia`s NATO Aspirations. They approved the ongoing and implemented democratic and economic reforms in Georgia.
In his turn, President Saakashvili thanked US lawmakers for the resolution adopted about Georgia, which described Abkhazia and South Ossetia as occupied territories of Georgia.
Saakashvili has also met with Senator John Shaheen; the senator focused on the economic success and the results of the anti-corruption reforms carried out in Georgia. The Senator said it was the success already described in the IMF report.
State Security Secretary of Georgia Giga Bokeria, Minister of Economic Development Vera Kobalia and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergi Kapanadze attended the meeting in Congress on Tuesday.
