Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili attended the presentation of a book about Georgian reforms at the office of the International Monetary Fund within the visit to the United States on Tuesday.
The book entitled Fighting Corruption in Public Services was written by the Asad Alam, the IMF Eastern Caucasus Regional director. It is a book about the reforms and anti-corruption measures carried out by Georgian government, which should become exemplary for other countries.
The book includes the information based on the experience of current and former officials of the public services. The author of the book explored work in eight public offices of Georgia, where the anti-corruption measures were implemented successfully.
The book says that this success was conditioned by three factors - including t he will of political leaders to have close cooperation within the government and to fit the international experience on Georgia`s reality, to make strategic use of technologies and communications. The book describes the road, which Georgia has passed since the Rose Revolution to present. As it was said at the meeting, Georgia succeeded to combat corruption in a very short period of time.
