Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili continues his visit to the United States of America. He held several important meetings in US Congress.
The bilateral relations between countries were discussed at the meeting with the congressional representatives Bill Shuster, Mario Diaz- Balart, John Garamendi, Duncan Hunter, Ted Poe, John Bunyan and Sean Duffy.
The sides discussed the prospects of bilateral cooperation and agreed that this cooperation should be elevated to a higher level in the spheres of economics and security.
The congressmen hailed Georgia`s economic and anti-corruption reforms, emphasizing the fact that not only the United States, but Russia was also recognizing the effective reforms of Georgia, which was reflected in the growth of the number of Russian tourists.
They say that Georgia has a president, who successfully defeats corruption and has an economic plan and that should become a model for the rest of the world.
Mikheil Saakashvili also met with senators Bob Corker and Marco Rubio. The sides discussed US-Georgia and Russia-Georgia relations. The senators focused on the participation of Georgia in the ISAF mission and reiterated support to Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders. Senators said Georgia was the best example of progress and the country has perfect climate for making business.
Saakashvili also met with senators John McCain, Lindsey Graham and James Risch.
