Heavy snowfall, which continues hitting Georgia, caused problems across central highways in the country.
Four buses and 8 cars were caught behind snow at Stepantsminda-Kobi section of military highway. The regional Gamgeoba arranged accommodation for 30 Georgian and about 90 Armenian citizens at local hotels.
There is a threat of avalanches at Kobi-Gudauri section of road. Cleaning works are ongoing in emergency regime. Special vehicles are mobilized.
Transportation is free at central highways. Road is open at Rikoti Pass (connecting east and west Georgia). Traffic limitations are imposed in direction of Tianeti, Nakerala and Tsalka. Transportation is allowed only with use of anti-skid wheal chins.
Georgian weather forecasters prognosticated that inclement weather conditions will continue hitting Georgia. No precipitation is expected before February 7 in west Georgia. Light snow is expected in Tbilisi. It will be snowing in Georgia's capital after February 7.
