Georgian Orthodox Church marks the day of St. King Davit Aghmashenebeli (Davit the builder) on February 8. Solemn church services will be held at acting churches across Georgia on this occasion.
David the Builder, of the Bagrationi Dynasty, was a king of Georgia from 1089 until his death in 1125.
According to the will, the king is buried inside the main gatehouse of the Gelati Monastery near Kutaisi, administrative capital of Imereti region. Georgia was the mightiest state during the King's reign.
Davit Bakradze, Georgia's Parliamentary Speaker will arrive in Kutaisi this afternoon and will lay wreath at King David's grave.
Bakradze will then, together with Imereti Governor Lasha Makatsaria, inspect ongoing rehabilitation works in Kutaisi.
