Two weeks prior to the presidential elections in Russia, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has published yet another article in the Rosiiskaya Gazetta, where he emphasized progress and the achievements in the defense sector. For Putin, the introduction of the contract system in Russian army is one of the most effective parts of the reform, as it was the contractor soldiers, who fought in Georgia in August 2008.
Putin also paid attention to the U.S. anti-missile defense system calling it `ineffective`, reminding the West that the responding potential of Russia in this sphere is the nuclear power and the cosmic defense.
